DCNR Conservation Volunteer
The PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) encourages community members to get involved in protecting and enhancing natural resources by becoming a Conservation Volunteer. A wide variety of programs are offered for volunteers of all ages.

- Trails / Wildlife Habitat - Creating or clearing trails, improving wildlife habitat, and cleaning and stabilizing stream banks
- Interpretation / Environmental Education - Interpreting the interrelationships between people and their natural environments through visitor centers, guided walks, and interpretive programs
- Research - Researching and writing the history of forests and state parks; developing checklists of flora and fauna; and assisting with geological and topographical studies and field research

Black Moshannon State Park
Black Moshannon State Park, located east of Philipsburg in Centre County, covers 3,394 acres of forests and wetlands. The park is nested amidst 43,000 acres of the Moshannon State Forest, creating a "remote and wild setting."
The park includes 20 miles of trails to connect visitors to the many different areas of the park.
The park also offers an environmental interpretive program that leads bog walks and stream studies to provide understanding of aquatic ecosystems, wetlands, and the influences humans have on them.
A comprehensive calendar of events showcases a myriad of activities from the exploration of a seasonal pool to a spring wildflower walk to programs on dragonflies and damselflies to night sky viewing from canoes.

Bald Eagle State Park
Located in the Bald Eagle Valley of northcentral PA, Bald Eagle State Park covers 5,900 acres - 1,730 acres of which are covered by Bald Eagle lake. The park also sports forests, fields, and wetlands with 14.5 miles of trails guiding hikers through varied habitats which offer scenic views and wildlife watching opportunities.
Guided walks and hands-on activities are offered to help visitors gain appreciation and awareness toward natural and historical resources. In addition, curriculum-based outdoor investigations and hands-on environmental activities are organized for students and youth organizations to increase their understanding of local ecosystems.
