Why Conservation?
With urban expansion and the development of land for residential, agricultural, and resource uses, many natural areas are being threatened. Central Pennsylvania is full of beautiful wild lands that are frequented by hikers and nature enthusiasts as well as home to many species of plants and animals. Community involvement and advocacy are key components to preserving and protecting the forests and wetlands in and around Central Pennsylvania so they're here to enjoy for generations to come. Take a moment to explore the many programs offered around the area that support our natural areas. Every person who can get involved in even a little way makes a big difference!
Still Looking for More Ways to Get Involved?
While Conservation Connect does offer a wide variety of programs and organizations available in and around Central PA, it is only a sampling of the many opportunities that are available to get involved in conservation efforts. Many of the organizations mentioned here were included in a 2010 publication by the Centre County Conservation District, A Guide to Conservation Groups in Centre County.
